League Results Round 3 2023-24
The Blue Boar Piglets marginally lost to Brown Jack A in the Main League and also in the Beer League last night. But what could they do when Hilary of Brown Jack A got two hands of 22 and also a 24… and to make matters worse Tim got a 24 as well. Meanwhile the Brown Jackettes won their first ever League match, and continued their winning streak in the Beer.

League Update Week 3 2023-24
As this is the first League Table update, it seems like a good time to mention how the League Tables are sorted, and how that will affect who will be the winners at the end of the season.
Here’s a quote from the league rules:
- The object of the two League competitions is to score the most number of points. The number of points each team wins during the season will determine League positions with the highest at the top and the others following in descending order.
- Should two or more teams score the same number of points the following criteria shall determine the final positions:-
- Total number of “Legs” won
- Total number of matches won
- “Legs” won on a head to head basis
- If teams are still level after the above criteria has been applied then teams will play against each other to decide the final positions.
The rules refer to points, and currently there are no complex rules on points – it’s simply 1 point for every game won. So to win a League your primary focus should be to win the most games (referred to as Legs in the rules). Basically the number of matches won only matters in the event of a tie.
This is why, in the Main League Table below, the Red Lion Buddies are currently ahead of Plough Inn B.

Singles and Pairs Round 1 Draws
The draws for the 2023-24 Singles and Pairs knockouts have been distributed to the team captains. 25 people have entered the Singles this year and 38 people have entered the Pairs. The cut-off for the Round 1 matches is 9th November. Good luck to everyone taking part.

Best performance of the night was the Lamb Inn, winning 6-3 in the League and a thirst-quenching 3-0 in the Beer. Best food of the night (according to Rob H) was the chilli at the Bakers. But the Bakers Arms in Badbury never disappoints…
